Meet the new owners of The Wind-Chill Factory at Ballston Spa - Brandon & Keely Whalen!

Everyone knows the northern location of The Wind-Chill Factory in Ticonderoga — it’s a summertime favorite. Brandon and Keely are excited to be bringing the same food, ice cream and hospitality to Ballston Spa — the newest Wind Chill Factory location. The WindChill Factory at Ballston Spa will have all the staples that everyone loves— top-quality food, the best soft serve, along with hard ice cream and the biggest addition of all — a newly renovated 18 hole MiniGolf Course! They look forward to sharing this family experience with everyone this Spring 2022!!

Brandon and Keely were each raised in the food/ice cream restaurant industry. Brandon’s father, Bobby Porter, has owned and operated the Ticonderoga location since Brandon was three years old, where Brandon learned alongside his father. Keely’s parents, John and Roberta Cooper, owned a roadside food and ice cream business in Crown Point, NY (just north of Ticonderoga) throughout Keely’s entire childhood, instilling in her a flourishing passion for the business.

Opening their own Wind-Chill Factory together is something that Brandon and Keely have felt destined to do. Brandon enlisted in the Navy in 2013 as a Submarine Nuclear Operator. He and Keely left their home in the Adirondacks for Connecticut, where Brandon served four years aboard The USS Minnesota. They returned to the area in 2019 after Brandon was stationed as an instructor at NPTU Ballston Spa, where he continues to serve today. Here they added the two greatest additions to their family — their son, Declan, and their daughter, Adalyn. They are looking forward to bringing up their children in a similar way they each we’re raised —in the family ice cream and food business!!!
